New York-based Aki Onda returns to ausland with his new cassette composition "Radio Waves from Tangier". He plays field recordings he collected during his two visits to Morocco in 1988 and 2010 as a homage to William S. Burroughs.

Aki Onda is particularly known for his “Cassette Memories” — works compiled from a “sound diary” of field-recordings collected by using the cassette Walkman over a span of last three decades.
He creates compositions, performances, and visual artworks from those sound memories. Onda often works in interdisciplinary fields and collaborates with filmmakers, visual artists, musicians, and choreographers. He has worked with artists such as Ken Jacobs, Michael Snow, Takashi Makino, Daisuke Yokota, Annea Lockwood, Loren Conners, Alan Licht, Che Chen, David Toop, Rie Nakajima, and Akio Suzuki.
Onda has presented his work at The Kitchen, MoMA, P.S.1 MOMA, REDCAT, Time-Based Art Festival, documenta 14, Louvre Museum, Palais de Tokyo, Fondation Cartier, Présences électronique, Argos, Bozar, Wiels, ICA London, International Film Festival Rotterdam, Nam June Paik Art Center, Sound Live Tokyo, and many others.

His upcoming releases in 2019 include reissues of his last three "Cassette Memories"-albums and a new artist book on Room 40, a collaboration album with late San Francisco-based filmmaker Paul Clipson on Audio MER, and new tape on CASSAUNA | Important Records.
